- We are a team consisting of Albert's brother, Tom, and friends (Amy, Trinh, Peg, Natasha, Tse-sung, Nadine, Marina, Gerald and Stephanie). Please, Albert does not want any flowers or gifts. Emails, electronic or printed photos are great. Food and sentimental momentos are great too!

So sorry to hear of Albert's illness. I live in Albany, so it's just a quick jog down to Emeryville if any errands need running during weekdays.
Please call or e-mail me if ANYTHING is needed - I am an RN and would of course help in his direct care as needed.

I live in Los Angeles, so it is unlikely that I can be of immediate help, but I did want to mention that I went through my own serious illness a few years ago and that Albert might find some solace in knowing that other people have had similar experiences. I wrote a bit about it on my blog here:

One thing I don't think I mentioned in the blog is that on Christmas eve 2004, the doctors told my wife that I was not going live another week. (I was in a coma at the time.) Obviously, I got lucky and they were wrong. I don't mean to Albert false hope; obviously my condition was very different that his. But stranger things have happened.

Wow, I just got the news :( I am so sorry... I have spent several years working as a home health and hospice RN, and would like to help - I happen to have several years of expertise in this sort of care. I am sure setting up a plan to care for Albert requires around-the-clock care, and this can be both emotionally and physically exhausting for the family. I would like to visit him, if that is okay with his family - he remembers me as the party-girl Deb, who he "stole" my disco ball from at a White Elephant Xmas party. Please call me at 408-608-5104. I can stay with him up to 4 hours a day, at least 2 to 3 days a week (mostly during the daytime, and some evenings).
