Just a Regular Joe

My cancers have started to progress again, except brain. I am in DC now.

I start Chemo next week. Back to the time lines of a regular Stage 4 Caner Patien. I am in pain now. The ride is over......

No calls please, emails OK, I will call if needed.

Dear Albert, Your latest - July 4th - is not good news for any of us, especially you - though maybe not surprising either. Each of us is, bottom line, regular Joe. Some luckier than others, at least for awhile. We are thinking of you often, hoping for the best.
Now, since you are back in DC, what about those baby girls, how are they doing?
Take care, the best you can - Sue

Hey Albert,
We paddled out to watch fireworks last night - was thinking of you out there. We got a bit too close at one point - had to crane our necks to see them burst above until the embers started falling on us. The show was spectacular from the water. Nothing like being scared, anxious, exhilarated, thrilled at the same time...
We'll be playing polo tomorrow, and you KNOW that we'll be talking and thinking about you there. You're missed by everyone ...Battle on!! You're the greatest fighter I know!!

You're not a regular Joe! I doubt that many people could handle this situation with the strength that you have. Amazing!

You were missed on July 4th - will send pics soon!

Albert -

While I'm sure you will beat this cancer, it was bound to win a round or two.

You have already beat the odds to date and we wish you the best with the chemo.

On other notes, Ian is becoming quite the tennis player (no Raphael Nadal or Albert Wang) but pretty good for a 5 year old. You will also find amusing that when Ian wants a snack I ask him to do 10 pushups - remind you of anyone?

No doubt one day Ian (who will have the benefit of private tennis lessons, the best tennis equipment, and insights provided by his enthusiastic and experienced father) will come across a boy with much less experience and training who will demonstrate superior natural talent and win against my son.

Whenever that day comes I will tell Ian the story about when his dad came across a young and very talented Albert Wang who humbled me in the game of tennis, taught me a great deal about the importance of friends and family, and will always be a best friend. Moreover, I'll tell Ian that when you find that naturally talented tennis competitor, don't get mad, be smart and do what I did -convince him to be your doubles partner.

Feel better, good luck, and let me know anything I can do to assist.

All the best,

Scott
